Serious injury from Blood Pressure Cuff?
While spending a day in the hospital attached to an Automatic Blood Pressure cuff going off every 15 minutes (agonizingly!!) I was left with a black and blue arm like I have never seen. All day long when I complained that the cuff was too tight, the nurses looked at me like I was some kind of whiney wimp. When the cuff came off those nurses were gone and the volunteer who was putting equipment away had nothing to say but, “Wow.”
Ever since then I have had mild pain in my upper arm, like the feeling of hitting a bruised spot again and again. Over the last month, the pain in that muscle has increased and has become accompanied by pain in my shoulder, very deep but not in the bones I don’t think. Sometimes it radiates down into my elbow and almost to my wrist. Sounds like rotator cuff stuff to me. My question is whether or not it could have been caused by the blood pressure cuff that brought me to my knees in pain all day that day in January.
The same thing happened to me. Most of my pain was under my arm. I got tire of telling them because every time they fixed the cuff it got worse. It could be a pinched nerve but you need to tell your doctor. A month is a long time , I would not wait any longer.
