It is an up and down roller coaster ride of feelings when you are addicted to cocaine. If you depend on it to function, you are addicted! You feel empty inside. You can run around with friends, or even run with a multitude of people, and still feel lonely and empty. When you are up, you feel like you can do anything, and when you are down, you feel worthless, empty and wondering if life is really worth living.

At those times of feeling worthless, you realize your life is going downhill and you feel that you are helpless to get out by yourself. So you naturally do it again, trying to drown out those feelings. At this point it becomes a nightmare.

There are a multitude of reasons why one starts using cocaine. But it all boils down to trying to fill that emptiness and loneliness that you feel. When you are high, it blots out that empty feeling for awhile. Yet when that high wears off, you feel empty again and it is usually worse. This emptiness is what inspires you to do it again. This becomes the roller coaster of feeling good – and the crash and burn after. The addiction nightmare!

At this point you begin to wonder, how can I cope with this life of roller coaster feelings? You can begin by looking around you at the ones who have gotten their life together, those who you know have been through similar circumstances. Most former users will be willing to tell you how they got away from the addiction nightmare. You will see that it is possible to get off the cocaine use addiction nightmare.

When you get clean of addiction, you will see the world in a different light. Instead of dreading every day, you will enjoy many things which you did not notice while you were addicted and down on life. You will see past the tunnel vision you experienced while you were down and desiring another fix. You will realize that there is a whole new world you missed while you were in the addiction nightmare.

If you have pulled away from family, friends and job responsibilities, then you are in the tunnel vision of addiction nightmare. All you look forward to is the next feel good. Even though you feel helpless and that there is no way out, it is time for a change. And change is possible, there are a multitude of people who have overcome addictions and now enjoy a new direction in life. The change starts in you.
