December 1, 2009, World AIDS Day was celebrated in India with much gung-ho, the Ministry of Health, Government of India was given a pat on the back the general decline in the number of HIV positive people in the country – about 400,000, while the drop in new HIV cases dropped 100,000 per year.
While this news is really encouraging, the question is India in a secure area with AIDS? India is the third largest nation with HIV / AIDS after South Africa and Nigeria, being home to 2.3 million AIDS victims.
How can we fight this debilitating disease? What are the facts about this deadly disease called AIDS, we must know.
AIDS, short for Acquired Immunodeficiency Deficiency Syndrome, is the advanced stage of infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
AIDS is a global pandemic, and nations throughout the world are fighting.
How is it spread AIDS: You can become infected by having unprotected sex with an infected partner, transfusion infected blood or by sharing infected needles. You can pass to the unborn child of a pregnant mother who has tested positive for the HIV virus, or after delivery through breastfeeding;
Signs and symptoms of AIDS may not appear immediately after infection of HIV virus is contracted, in fact, can take up ten long years for the HIV virus to demonstrate against AIDS, and destroy the body immune system completely.
Can it be treated completely AIDS? No, I can not. But it may survive if early detection is through the administration of antiretroviral therapy as advised by doctors.
Once tested positive for the HIV virus, the victim should contact ICTC (Integrated Counseling and testing centers).
