Safety standards in the spotlight at the seminar

Safety standards in the construction industry will be under the spotlight at a seminar in Stoke-on-Trent.

The North Staffordshire Health and Safety Group has organized the event to the title question "CDM – Is it working?" On October 21, 2008.

Construction and Design Management (CDM) regulations came into force in 1994 and updated in 2006.

Trevor Fletcher, of North Staffordshire Health and Safety Group, said: "The CDM regulations were meant to have a profound effect safety in the construction industry.

"Our seminar is to examine whether CDM has resulted in a reduction of accidents work or more bureaucracy. "

The seminar was held at the North Staffordshire Medical Institute in Hartshill Road, Hartshill and extends from 9:30 until 15:30.

The Health and Safety Group has secured a line of highly qualified speakers, including Nic Rigby, Inspector Home to the Health and Safety Executive, Mario Lombardo, Health and Safety Manager Ibstock brick and Bob Sayer of housebuilders, Redrow.
