Im a nursing student. How do I use stethoscope/BP Cuff?
I am a very curious nursing student in my 1st semester taking pre-reqs. So i am not in the nursing program YET. But i bought a Dual Head Stethoscope and BP cuff and tried to learn myself how to use them.
The stethoscope dont work at all, its in pieces dont kno how to put it together the right way. when i try to listen to heart beat, NOTHING.
I have no idea how to use the BP cuff at all.
I wanna be ahead and learn myself how to do these basic nursing tasks. step by step directions greatly appreciated thank u
First you put on the cuff then inflate it to about 180 what ever there called PSI or something, i don’t know what it is measured in but PSI will work for now. Put the stethoscope right above the elbow joint, on the inside of the arm. Start releasing the pressure, the slower you release the more accurate your measurement will be. You are going to listen for a change its going to be like a thump, that will be your fist number. Then you get the lower number when the “thump” goes away.
