Childhood obesity – The truth about children's health today
Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. Today's parents are neglecting their diet of children and exercise requirements by more busy lifestyle. It is much faster and easier to give children ready meals and food preparation fast and eat in front of the TV than it is to create a healthy meal with fresh ingredients and a family meal on the table. As a result, children are increasingly are becoming obese, some morbidly obese. This is very real, serious and potentially mortal threat to the health of children today.
Due to the lack of fruit fresh vegetables and protein in the diet of children today, as well as lack of exercise needed, children are aging prematurely. A study on Overweight children showed that: –
Of the children studied, the average age was 13 and had the equivalent adult arteries 45yr old!
9 million children up to age 18 are overweight in the United States alone!
Due to internal injuries caused bad diets, children overweight could die until 25yrs early!
The percentage of children classified as overweight has more than doubled since the early 70's!
It is estimated that 70% risk of diabetes in the U.S. is attributed to excess weight!
In the U.S. almost two thirds of adults are overweight and almost one third are obese!
Not concerned yet? Well it should be. None of these statistics are falling, which are on the rise!
Many children today are exercise such as walking across the room to take control of Playstation, or climb the stairs to the bathroom. They watch more TV than ever because it is easily available. Eating apple pie is the closest we come to fresh fruit. Socialize these days on the Internet via MSN or social networking sites like Facebook. Our children's health is deteriorating and parents are letting it happen!
Changing the diets of our children back to fruit and vegetables and making run again and can not occur sooner. Done correctly and with dedication can do. Our health and lives of children, literally, depend on parents to ensure they are taught properly, given a healthy diet and exercise. Start now and do not let your child down.
