is an online degree or certification as good as going to a university to get one?
I've been interested in obtaining certification for nutrition, health and welfare and perhaps earn a doctorate in that race, however, I do not want to pay extra money to do something online if not validated enough. Found an online college I was interested in Clayton called school of natural health. I am currently attending Anne Arundel Community College and then transferred to the University of Maryland. Please someone give me their experience and / or opinions! Thanks! Angie
A couple of years I made my own personal research to find a good college Online. The feeling I have for most of the online universities that are more spectacle, shock and awe, if you will, then really focused learning. In a way, they were more focused marketing your school name and programs. Of course this is not true of every Line in schools, was only a common trend among the schools I researched. One school in particular was terrible. I received dozens of calls from their "representatives" and tons e-mail asking me about registering. I personally used as an indicator of how each school wisely use their money. Schools that just me I sent the requested information taken more seriously (because the money did not have the waist on the market). For me, it comes down to how the school dollar values of their tuition. If you are going to spend on increasing enrollment numbers, which have less to spend on improving the learning environment. The other area of concern for me was the transfer of credits. In the U.S. there is no government accreditation, only private, national or regional bodies accreditation. Getting to the transfer of credits between two schools using different accreditation bodies will be more difficult (sometimes impossible). If you plan to move to another school or continue with their PhD, be sure to do your research on your school (s) of choice! One last bit on accreditation. More online colleges are accredited by national accreditation bodies, while most traditional local / state college and universities are accredited by regional agencies. As to what degree is worth more, online or traditional college? It all comes down to school works best for you. There are some very respected online colleges out there that offer quality education on par with many traditional universities.
